FAQ

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are clear gels made of hyaluronic acid, a natural occurring skin substance. When you replenish hyaluronic acid, it rejuvenates and adds volume to the skin, smoothing out the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

What does the procedure entail and is it painful?

Dermal fillers are administered by injection. First, you will have a consultation with Dr. Kaestner. She will ask you what you would like to change about your appearance and determine which dermal filler is the best choice for you. In most cases, your procedure can be performed during the same visit as your consultation. Numbing cream will be applied during your treatment, and Dr. Kaestner will give you a series of small injections. The number of injections depends on what you are trying to achieve with the treatment. Minimal discomfort and done in just minutes. You may experience redness, bruising, or swelling right after treatment, but very little downtime is required post-treatment. We do recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for the remainder of the day.

Are dermal fillers safe?

Yes, dermal filler products containing hyaluronic acid provide natural and safe results. The hyaluronic acid found in dermal fillers is not actually acid, it is a water molecule found naturally in the human body that keeps the skin hydrated and plump.

How long will dermal fillers last?

How long your filler lasts is dependent on the amount of product you receive during treatment, which product you receive, and your body’s natural metabolism. Some individuals break down filler faster than others. Dermal fillers tend to have the longest lasting affect in areas that move the least, for example a treatment in the cheeks will likely last longer than the lips.

What specific areas can be treated with dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are ideal for softening smile lines, adding volume to thin lips, raising cheeks, REDUCING JOWLS and lifting drooping brows. Dermal fillers are also used in treatments to achieve desired nose shape and profile, smooth the chin, provide fullness to earlobes, and straighten jawlines.
